Narveen Aryaputri has her Bachelor’s in Education in 1968 and her Master’s of Arts in English and 20th<\/sup>\u00a0C American Literature in 1970, \u00a0with a special emphasis on the influence of the Veda on 20th<\/sup>\u00a0C American Literature from Meerut University, India. Her Doctorate is in 20th<\/sup>\u00a0Century American Literature<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She taught English and American Literature at Delhi University, New Delhi. India for 1 \u00bd years from 1973-75. She was in Iran from 1975-1979, where she taught English as a Second Language for two years at Language House, a branch of Telemedia, Chicago. She then taught English Literature at the University of Jundi Shapur in Ahwaz, Iran. Her daughter, Manisha, was born during her stay in Iran. While there, she experienced both the culture of Iran, as well as the revolt that led to the political change in Iran and the exile of Shah Reza Pahlavi. Narveen emigrated to the United States in January 1980.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In September 1990, she began the restoration and re-establishing of The Moline Commercial Club ( c. 1895) and the building that housed it ( c. 1912) . In September 1990, she also began the restoration of The Spencer House, ( c.1865) the oldest vintage home in the River Cities Region and the only example of a Carpenter Gothic in the region. The Spencer House is now a Historic Landmark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She was the Executive Director of the United States and India Chamber of Commerce Midwest from  2001 – 2003 networking and supporting the commerce for medium and small business expanding to India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Narveen\u2019s published book in India is \u201cDiwan-e-Khas<\/em><\/strong><\/em><\/strong>\u201d a  book of essays, available on Flipkart. In America, her essays are published in various journals and on www.Academia.edu<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her volunteer and humanitarian work for the community is with The Institute for Cultural and Healing Traditions, Ltd. a not for profit 501\u00a93 corporation, which she founded in 1996 where she is the currently the President and Director. This Institute is run on the lines of Sikh Tradition in education as taught by Sikh Gurus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Narveen has deep belief in Sikhi and Sikh philosophy, incorporating the principles in her daily living.  She has been actively volunteering in the management of Silvis Sikh Center Gurudwara while she was in Illinois. With her move to Texas, she has begun her volunteer work with San Antonio Sikh Center Gurudwara. She keenly looks forward to volunteering at the Guru Nanak Gurudwara, Hawaii.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daughter of a senior Military officer, Narveen was born in India and brought up in the Military tradition and Cantonments  of India. Parallel to her work, she is an essayist and a professional artist, painting in the medium of oils on canvas, and gauche on paper and silk.
